Geosynthetics materials noticing extensive applications in construction and designing of roads. Though they are synthetic but have are not harmful for the environment and are highly durable.

We all human are capable of absorbing everything which comes in our way. Adaption is the remedy to survive on this earth and nature has offered us in galore and we have also adopted in healthy way.

But our survival and adaption are not just limited to offerings by nature, but our brains keep on inventing things which make us advantageous and aid us to be more adaptable. Nature's offerings nurture environment and do not pollute it. But, at the same time, one cannot ignore the limitations which have made to look for the man made alternatives. At the same time care is taken about the polluting nature of man made materials.

Construction of roads have witnessed shift from natural materials to manmade products. In ancient era, natural fibers, fabrics and vegetation were used to construct roads and their edges as they were responsible for improving the quality of the road. In addition to this varied composition of soil were mixed and used to mend roads. While natural materials enhanced the quality of the roads, by making them firmer. Past era faced the problem of decomposition, as steep slopes were constructed using materials which can be acted over by the microorganisms. Besides, bio-degradation of soil made way for polymers, as they are stable and are not easily affected by the environmental conditions.

Suitability and durability of the polymeric products are the factors which decide about their applications for road construction. Range of polymeric products is defined in geosynthetics, encompassing few synthetics products, which are explained below in details.

1.Geotextiles: These ones are basically traditional polymeric products which are solutions for many civil engineering problems. Long life and reliability are on the fact that they are synthetic.

2.Geogrids: One of the most fast growing division, goegrids is fabricated in open and grid like design. These grids are used in mineral aggregate fills in layer form along with other suitable soil. They are not woven or knitted fabrics.

3.Geosynthetic clay liners: Basically used as rolls equipped with layers of bentonite clay, Geosynthetic clay liners are used positioning between geotextiles. The liners are placed in closeness with the polymeric products and natural oils.

4.Geocells: The formation takes place after confinement of the system which is full of compacted soil. Geocells can be witnessed having three-dimensional honeycombed cellular structure. These advanced polymers have found applications aiding durable and sturdy road and rail load construction.

Geosynthetics are multitude which has been successfully serving huge industry of transport and the array also covers roadways, railroads, waterways and airways. Besides, geosynthetics are capable of serving the process of filtration, drainage, environmental protection, reinforcement and separation adding up to the basic function.
